Up the U.P. We Go!!!
Well after a successful time in Boulder Junction we are heading north. The upper peninsula of Michigan is one of the most beautiful places we have been over the years. Nice to be back in this part of the country. P.S. I heard it’s 120 in Palm Springs today. Hard to believe it’s 60 degrees here!
Boulder Junction for my dad…
Well it’s going to be my first Father’s Day without my dad. Always knew this day would come but it’s really starting to hit me as the day approaches. One of things my father most loved was the log cabin he and my mother built in Boulder Junction Wisconsin. My mom always said it was the only place she ever heard him whistle. So we all agreed that we should go back and spread some of his ashes in that place on this special day. I know all good things must end but not a day goes by that I will not be thankful for all you did for me dad…
Some windshield time
Making some nice stops along the way toward Michigan. Santa Fe New Mexico farmers market
On the road again
Well as the American Flag Project enters the home stretch we get ready for a little travel.
Note to self sprinter van rocks!!
Pack up time!!!
Wow can forty eight thirty two inch square panels fit in one van!!! Reminds me of the old art show days….
American Flag Project nears completion
The lens is installed!!!!
The project is getting close to completion.
It’s been a great week with lots of progress.
I’m excited how the lens really makes the star pop!
Installing the lens
Second clear coat
It’s a clear day
The first Old Glory
Found this old photo of one of the first flags I ever did….
Hard to believe years later I’d be given such an awesome opportunity to be involved with an all American company like C&S Machine!!! Many thanks
Loaded On Pigment
Well it’s been a fun week. After all the measurements and cutting finally some color!!
Lots of layers produce some great texture.
More layers and then a clear coat when I’m satisfied……
Let the color begin!!!!
The C&S American Flag Project is beginning to make some progress!
The first of many layers of color is being applied.
Those are some big stripes!!!
I’m starting to see stars!!!
My First Stars
Time for a Proper Blueprint
Time for a proper blueprint. To determine what size everything should be I work back from overall flag dimension first. Measure twice cut once right. Next a paper template is made of the actual star size. From paper comes a metal template. Now we need our metal canvas!!!!
Early Drawings
Very excited today working with a new client on a large scale corporate art project. Early drawings show the concept of multiple panels in series, to create a large scale metal American flag… more to come!!
